2009 Guide to Advocacy

MoAHA, members, and advocates have worked hard in past legislative sessions. Due to your efforts and others, we have been able to obtain significant strides in the fight for senior services. Your voice is powerful, and it is heard!

However, there will always be threats to funding and services as long as there is a budget upon which to agree. Not everyone understands the importance of quality health care services for the elderly. Your voice is still needed. Each individual who shares their story can influence another person’s stance on an issue. The 2009 Legislative Session is here and there is work to be done, and you have the power to do it.

Click here for MoAHA's 2009 Guide to Advocacy .   It will provide the information you need to get started in your advocacy efforts this year.  It contains this information:

  • Who is MoAHA?
  • Preparing to Meet Your Legislator
  • Coalition Building
  • Addressing Public Officials
  • How to Visit Your Senator and Representative
  • Make Your Letters Count!
  • Understanding State Legislation
  • Glossary of Legislative Terms/Titles
  • Other Helpful Hints & Information
  • Selected Federal and Sate Government Internet Addresses and Web Pages

As always, your association is just a phone call away for any other information you need.
