The Mission of Advancing Excellence in America's Nursing Homes Campaign is to help long-term care communities achieve excellence in quality of care and quality of life for the more than 1.5 million individuals residing in those communities.
The recruitment campaign of the second phase of Advancing Excellence ended January 31, 2010, with 5,860 long-term care communities across the country having signed up for the initiative. This included 4,728 re-enrollees, charter members of the campaign, in addition to 1,132 new participants. This exceeds the campaign's goal of 5,000 communities.
Roughly one-third of the nation's nearly 16,000 long-term care communities signed up for the campaign, evidence that communities are committed to continuous quality improvements. Congratulations to everyone that joined.
Missouri has 320 communities participating, or 44.8%. Of those 320 communities, 171 are charter members, communities participating since the inception of the program.
The Missouri governing group (MOLANE) has decided that Staff Retention will be the main focus in the second phase of the campaign. Missouri did make progress in all goal areas but the group felt more emphasis in this area was merited.
